For some time I have been thinking that I should express...
For some time I have been thinking that I should express my gratitude for Christian Science by sending a testimony to the Christian Science Sentinel, as I have been greatly helped and encouraged by reading there the accounts of other healings. I had a growth in my breast that I had doctored both internally and externally for ten years, and it had become quite large and sore. An operation seemed to be the only alternative. Christian Science was brought to my attention at that time, as I had also been suffering from nervous exhaustion. I had such fear of operations that I concluded to try Christian Science. Ten days after I began treatment, the bunch had entirely disappeared, and later the extreme nervousness was overcome.
Since then hemorrhoids, severe colds, and many minor ailments have been healed, and for twelve years my three children and I have depended entirely on Christian Science. While in the second grade in school my daughter was nervous and suffered so much from headache and pain in the back of her neck that she had to be kept out of school a year. We tried glasses, also a nerve specialist, and she seemed improved for a short time but was soon in the same condition again. After I received my first healing in Science we had Christian Science help for her, and in three weeks she was able to attend school regularly.
During the World War my eldest son enlisted. At the time of the influenze epidemic he was taken with every symptom of that disease. When he asked to be excused from drill, he was told that if he was sick he would have to go to a hospital. He immediately asked for help in Christian Science, and absent treatments were lovingly given, with the result that he did not miss any drills and was not obliged to go to a hospital.
