Divine Mind is Infinite
Mind is one of the synonyms for God used by Mrs. Eddy in Christian Science. Throughout her writings she makes constant use of the synonym; and because of the fact, divine Mind (the "M" being capitalized) has come to be used very frequently by Christian Scientists in referring to God.
The words "infinite divine Mind" are marvelously expressive of certain phases of the divine nature. For example, they at once emphasize the truth that God is Spirit; and in so doing they declare the fact that what is called matter is unreal: infinite Mind predicates the impossibility of matter's being real. Whenever God is recognized as infinite Mind, one begins to realize that the so-called material universe, from the tiniest particle to the largest sun in immeasurable space, is a false concept of the human mind.
As the truth dawns, what a host of questions have to be answered as to the why and the wherefore of things, and what an adjustment commences in human thought! Often when the first glimmering of Mind's allness dawns upon one, a great load seems to lift, because now one sees the way out of the mystery of material existence, with its burdens of doubt and misgiving, sorrow and suffering, sickness, sin, and death. For all that goes to make up the sum total of human inharmony springs from the belief that matter is real. Many a time a healing of disease has resulted from the very first glimpse of the unreality of matter, the sick person perceiving that, since matter is unreal, there cannot in reality be a diseased material body. One has but to make a demonstration such as this to be convinced of the truth of Christian Science.
