Truly the praises of Christian Science are beyond human...

Truly the praises of Christian Science are beyond human power of expression, and its beauty indeed transcends our feeble attempts at description.

One day in the early summer of 1915, while at a friend's house, I noticed a magazine lying on the table. There were no pictures or any of the usual features of a magazine, but I turned over the pages and came upon an article which interested me very much, for it spoke of the healing power of Christian Science. While reading the article I seemed to be lifted out of all my worries and perplexities; I gained a vision of man as God made him, sinless and perfect, entirely separate from the mortal dream of sickness and sorrow. From that moment I became an earnest student of Christian Science, attending the Sunday services and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. Although previously suffering from lack I was soon able to purchase a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other works by Mrs. Eddy. I was healed instantaneously of a severe internal injury of many years' standing, incurable according to mortal belief; and headaches, neurasthenia, insomnia, and the host of distressing symptoms that accompany nervous debility, have been overcome. That these healings were complete was proved by the fact that I was passed A1 by the military authorities and underwent a severe physical training without discomfort.

During countless apparently disagreeable and perilous experiences in the compaign in France, Christian Science was always a certain shield, and enabled me to be of encouragement to those around who did not know of Christian Science themselves. When discharged from the army I had heart disease, but I have since been enabled through Science to perform very laborious work without discomfort, and the trouble has now disappeared.
