In the fourth chapter of Deuteronomy we read: "When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (for the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not farsake thee, neither destroy thee." I have proved the above promise true; also, that "he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness." My experience may help some one who, being in tribulation, needs the assurance that Love never fails, even in the "later days." It is we who fail through turning away from good; and, however late the day, if we but turn back and seek rightly, we shall find unfailing Love and Truth where they have always been,—ever present.

While I was engaged in a profession the whole tendency of which was to center one's thoughts upon the human personality or material selfhood, wrong thinking in the guise of an organic disease seemed to grow upon my thought until it reached terrifying proportions, finally resulting in collapses, sometimes in public places, which would frighten bystanders into believing that I had passed on. Always the attempt to cling to some thought of good would help me until a practitioner could be called; nut there were usually periods of inactivity and suffering afterwards, and sometimes loss of position.

Although I had been raised in Christian Science, my love of my profession and belief that I did not have time or proper inclination always to seek "first the kingdom of God" had deceived me into a double-mindedness which was robbing me of my birthright of dominion and power as a child of God, a child of the one Mind. In the midst of what the world calls an opportunity for success came the realization that what I really needed was a renewing of the mind, a turning back, a working understanding of God and His relationship to man; and with this realization came the desire for the opportunity to study and commune with Truth. The arguments started pouring in think and fast that I must work to live; that I must not give up just when, in spite of disease and fear, my opportunity was before me, and after years of effort I must not lose it. In the midst of this storm of argument came the "still voice" assuring me, "The battle is not your's, but God's." Within a short time, through a dear friend, a vacation of six months was made possible, and I accepted the opportunity, leaving the problem of worldly success in the hands of the Lord of the battle.
