I have often wished to add my gratitude to that of the many other who have been praising God for the blessings of Christian Science. It is now eighteen years since I first learned of this wonderful truth that heals as well as saves.

I did not take up Christian Science for physical healing, but when quite a child I had often wondered and questioned why the works our Master and Teacher, Christ Jesus, had done, and the promises he had made, could not be repeated in this age. I, however, never received any reply to my questions except that this power was given to his disciples only. I felt sure if we had the faith the disciples had we should also be able to do the works. I visited most of the different churches seeking an answer to my prayers; but none of them could satisfy my longings. I therefore turned to the Bible for comfort and prayed daily for light, faith, and understanding. Then one night when I was visiting a friend whom I had often told of my longing to understand the promises of the Bible, she gave me a book, saying, "Here is what you have been looking for." As I opened the book, which was a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the first thing I read was that God is "omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent Being" (pp. 465, 466). As I read farther I found this book was indeed the answer to my prayers, and I said to my friend, "I am going to have a book like this for my own." She gave me a copy of The Christian Science Journal to take home, and if I should begin to tell all the blessings we have had in our home since that night I could fill a book. There have seemed to be some very dark days of sickness and sorrow; but this great truth has been our Comforter and has healed all our sorrow and sickness whenever faithfully applied, as taught in the Bible and Science and Health. We have had some wonderful proofs of the all-power of God in healing all manner of diseases. There are seven children in our family, and I have seen blood poisoning healed at three different times; also earache, measles, smallpox, toothache, and many other troubles. Some of these healings were instantaneous.

The Christian Science textbook is indeed the "Key" to unlock the Bible, revealing God as our only Physician. I feel very grateful to God and to Mrs. Eddy for this wonderful truth, and to the dear friends and practitioners who have so patiently helped me. I am daily striving to be worthy to be called a child of our Father-Mother God.
