Christian Science organizations, as such, do not endorse any candidate for public office. Christian Scientists, however, as citizens, do take an interest in politics for the purpose of purifying them; but it is as individuals they must decide who deserves their support. In the Boston Post of November, 1908, our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, expressed herself on the subject of politics; and for the benefit of your readers I shall quote the article, entitled "Politics," which may also be found in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 276): "Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy has always believed that those who are entitled to vote should do so, and she has also believed that in such matters no one should seek to dictate the actions of others. In reply to a number of requests for an expression of her political views, she has given out this statement:—I am asked, 'What are your politics?' I have none, in reality, other than to help support a righteous government; to love God supremely, and my neighbor as myself."
