True Philosophy

When oppressed by a heavy burden of cares, griefs, and perhaps stubborn beliefs of illness, of what avail is it to be told not to worry? When all seems dark before one, and discouragement and fear seem to flood one's consciousness with a train of unhappy thoughts, it seems impossible to heed the friendly advice to "look on the bright side of things." Christian Science alone teaches how to replace such thoughts with the correct, spiritual understanding of man's relation to God, which heals and saves. On page 99 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy has written, "Human philosophy, ethics, and superstition afford no demonstrable divine Principle by which mortals can escape from sin; yet to escape from sin, is what the Bible demands."

When God is understood to be divine Principle, including the law of ever available good, men will no longer be without hope, for they can prove for themselves the unreality of that sense which claims that existence is governed by the supposed laws of matter. Human philosophy has never lessened the number of diseases in the world or prolonged life. At best it has but taught mortals to become resigned to evil, and to accept it as part of God's creation.

Christian Science is constructive, teaching the student how to divide the true creation from the untrue, and through knowledge and demonstration of spiritual reality to experience harmony. As one turns from matter to Mind, God, for comfort and healing, he soon learns the power of Mind. This correct thinking results in improved health and a greater manifestation of happiness.
