Signs of the Times

[Rev. George H. McNeal, in the Daily Telegraph, London, England, March 16, 1925]

There are two things you must carefully read,—your Bible, which is God's Word, and, secondly, the daily newspaper. Choose a good, clean, farsighted paper,—a paper that sees the whole world and its needs, not a paper only concerned with the world of sport or the world of business or the worlds of literature and science. Take a paper that sees and reflects the whole world, with its spiritual and eternal, as well as its temporal and material, necessities. Read the Bible and the newspaper together. In the newspaper see the needs of the world; in the Bible the sources from which these needs may be supplied; and find out what you can best do to supply them.
