Man's Oneness with the Father

Christ Jesus showed in his life that it is the will of the Father that we should be at-one with Him. This is possible; and we are asleep and untrue to our real selves if we grovel along in gloom, weakness, and inability. Jesus said: "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life;" "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full;" "And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one."

The joy and glory and accomplishment of divine Love's purpose are not, then, supernatural, nor too much for us to claim. Indeed, it is not right for us to claim less. Just as it is right and natural for a pine or an oak to rise to lofty heights, expressing majesty and beauty, so it is right and natural for us to express the precious attributes of God. A pine would not fulfill its purpose by being a scrub; nor would one manifest humility by apparently being a failure. Humility brings the noblest dignity one can know; for it means a constant turning to God for wisdom, guidance, strength, and love, and in the midst of success saying with tender gratitude, "Thine is the ... glory."

The very purpose of Jesus' life was largely lost sight of; but now it has been again revealed, and wonderful proofs of the fact have been given to the world in the life-work of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who was raised from weakness and sorrow into strength and joy. Hers was the glory of the greatest accomplishment of many centuries. This came about through her discernment of the law of God and obedience to it, and through showing countless thousands how they also may prove their unity with the Father and so find health, joy, and ability. Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 202), "The scientific unity which exists between God and man must be wrought out in life-practice, and God's will must be universally done."
