Among the Churches

Current Notes

Savannah, Georgia (First Church).—Preliminary to the construction of a handsome house of worship, one in keeping with the beautiful surroundings, First Church of Christ, Scientist, has purchased the lot on the southeast corner of Bull and Thirty-seventh Streets. The property measures one hundred by one hundred and thirty feet, and the plan at present is to build a modern church building in the center, in order to permit the approaches to be laid off in lawns, the planting of trees and shrubbery to form an appropriate setting for the church. No definite date for the work of construction to begin on the new church has been fixed. The property has been purchased at this time because it was available, and because the location is one that would probably not remain on the market very long.

St. Gall, Switzerland (First Church).—Because of favorable weather conditions it has been possible to complete the structure of the Christian Science church, which is situated on Böcklin Street, near Unterer Graben. The domeshaped roof rises majestically above the masonry. Work on the interior is now beginning. It is hoped that the church, with a seating capacity of six hundred, will be ready for use next May.—St. Gallen Tagblatt.
