It was about three years ago that we called in the doctor because our child was ill; and during the two years following, one illness succeeded another, until at last heart and kidney disease remained in a very bad form. We became more and more troubled, especially by the attitude of the doctor, who had evidently applied the utmost of his medical skill; for he told both my wife and me never to omit giving the prescribed medicine. From this we recognized that the disease had become chronic. In the meantime we heard of Christian Science. The disease disappeared very quickly through the loving treatment of a practitioner, and has never reappeared. One day I met the doctor. He was very much pleased to see how well the child looked, and asked me to allow him to make an examination. I did so; and after the examination he declared in great astonishment that the child was perfectly healthy, although a year before he had thought him incurable, and had often asked himself if he could still be alive.

At this time I myself quite unexpectedly was healed through Christian Science of a disease of many years' standing, which, in spite of the fact that all possible medical means had been applied, had not previously yielded. These incidents brought to us perfect clearness concerning the powerlessness of men and the omnipotence and supremacy of God's help in extremity.

We can never express in words our gratitude to God, to our revered Leader in Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy, to the dear practitioner, and to all active adherents of Christian Science. We shall therefore try to express our gratitude in deeds.—Ernst Sinn, Stuttgart, Germany.
