Eight years ago a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

Eight years ago a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was given to me by a dear sister, who had received many healings as a result of studying this textbook. At the time, I was a member of another church and knew nothing about Christian Science. After reading the book for about eight months, I was surprised and grateful one day to find that I was able to discontinue wearing glasses, which I had worn for thirteen years. Specialists had said that it would always be necessary for me to wear them. I accepted their theories because I had worn glasses since I was thirteen years of age. I continued reading this inspired book, and neuralgic headaches, which had caused me much suffering for many years, entirely disappeared.

I had often read in the Christian Science periodicals testimonies from mothers who had given birth to children under the most harmonious circumstances by having Christian Science treatment at that time. It seemed almost incredible, until I proved, six and a half years ago at the birth of a daughter, the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words, "When the mist of mortal mind evaporates, the curse will be removed which says to woman, 'In sorrow thou shalt bring forth children'" (Science and Health, p. 557). I was supposed to be suffering at that time from Bright's disease and was not expected to live; but I am grateful to say that the birth was harmonious, and that three weeks later the other condition was entirely overcome. My gratitude is beyond expression for the privilege of sending my two little daughters to a Christian Science Sunday School. The understanding which they receive there enables them to solve the little problems that arise in their daily lives.

When I was traveling in foreign countries where I was unable to understand the native tongues, my every need was met through the realization of the truth of these words by Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." When other travelers were affected by the heat in one country and by cold in another, I experienced no discomfort, for I understood our Leader's words, "Heat and cold are products of mortal mind" (ibid., p. 374), and knew that, as one of our hymns says,
