[Written for the Sentinel]

The Abiding Place

Within the kingdom of God's thought
I find content.
The fear of pestilence is gone;
The night of terror changed to dawn;
The arrow spent.

Within the kingdom of God's thought
I find my home,
Secure from plague, a fortress strong.
His angels turn my woes to song—
No more alone!

Within the kingdom of God's thought
I find His care;
The dragon and the adder crushed;
The anguish of my trouble hushed—
No more to bear.

Within the kingdom of God's thought
I find my life;
A satisfaction sure within;
Destroyed, the sense of death and sin—
No more of strife.
