The Lectures
Sevenoaks, England (Society).—Introducing Dr. Walton Hubbard, a Christian Science lecturer, to his audience, Claude A. Carr said in part:—
Everybody nowadays has at least a vague idea that Christian Science is a system of spiritual healing. As a matter of fact it is far more than this, but it is true that it heals. I am one of those who have experienced instantaneous healing through Christian Science. Many years ago, in China, when I was at death's door from pneumonia and pleurisy, I was healed in a moment of time by the realization of the allness of God; and since then I have witnessed many remarkable healings in different parts of the world. It requires only a degree of spiritual understanding on the part of a genuine seeker to avail himself of the health and happiness which Christian Science imparts. The reason why many may not find it easy to understand is that they try to assimilate spiritual ideas from a material or mortal standpoint, whereas they can be only spiritually discerned.
When our Master made his demonstration of what has been called the miraculous draft of fishes, he did so by bidding his disciples cast their net on the right side of the ship. Before they did so they had fished all night and caught nothing; but after doing as they were bidden, the gospel narrative states, they were not able to draw the net for the multitude of fishes. Surely this wonderful lesson signifies that we too must cast our nets on the right side; that is to say, as we cease from materialistic methods and seek Truth spiritually we shall gain the abundance of good things which the Father is eternally bestowing on all His children.
