I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the following proof, by demonstration, of the efficacy of the healing power of Truth, as taught in Christian Science.

In the fall of 1921, our little boy of three years was bitten by a large black moccasin snake, both fangs taking effect, one under the ankle, the other in the instep of the left foot. We were in the Everglades and, by the route we took, something over one hundred miles from Miami, Florida, where we went for a Christian Science practitioner. The trip had to be made by freight boat (a small motor boat) part of the way. The remainder of the trip was made by bus, as we should have had to wait several hours for a train. The child was bitten about sundown, and we could not get away till next morning; so it was about twenty-eight hours before we reached a practitioner. However, I declared the truth from the very first, and worked in Science as best I could all night and next day, till we did get a practitioner.

The leg became very much swollen and the foot very dark, the infection finally going the full length of the limb, which, to material sense, made it seem almost impossible for the child to live; but we cooperated with the practitioner, and did not voice the nature of the difficulty to any of the neighbors. The practitioner was very faithful and stanch, as well as firm. The night when a crisis seemed to come and baby seemed almost ready to go into convulsions, she had my husband read aloud the ninety-first psalm all night, and she treated baby all night also. The corruption freely flowed from the wounds, and he began to get well gradually, till he was absolutely healed and able to use his foot as usual. The complete healing was accomplished within a few months, and there have been no ill after effects. The child has had perfect use of his leg ever since, and is a healthy, robust boy, attending Christian Science Sunday School regularly. He relies wholly upon Christian Science for all healing, of whatsoever nature.
