It is certainly a great blessing to know even a very little about Christian Science, and I wish to express my gratitude for all it has done for me. First of all, I was thankful that my mother became interested in Christian Science during my infancy. The ninety-first psalm and the hymn beginning, "Shepherd, show me how to go," by Mrs. Eddy (Poems, p. 14), were among my first lessons; and God has been my only physician and daily protection.

Satisfied with this protection and the physical healing, I did not feel the need of earnest study until after I married and left the early environment; and I am especially grateful for the experiences which have compelled me to seek an understanding of God; also for the privilege of membership in both The Mother Church and a branch church. In all of these experiences, which have meant such spiritual growth to me, I have been helped lovingly and faithfully by a dear practitioner. Through the many channels provided by our Leader—the daily study of the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lessons; the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and Mrs. Eddy's other writings; the church services; the periodicals and the lectures—I am gaining an understanding of Christian Science. This, in turn, put into practice, is overcoming all sorts of errors of disposition for me, and means greater harmony in my home.

In 1918, while my husband was serving in the army overseas, the sense of separation and fear was quickly overcome and replaced with the assurance that he was in God's care. Oftentimes in the night when I awakened with a feeling of anxiety, the verses of the "Mother's Evening Prayer" by Mrs. Eddy (Poems, p. 4) would come to me, bringing peace and comfort. In the Y. M. C. A. entertainment work for the soldiers and sailors in this country, in which activity I took part for several months, I was able to prove the efficacy of Christian Science by singing every night, frequently to two audiences the same evening, without missing a program. Also during the so-called influenza epidemic of that same year, while I was in a city where the wearing of masks was enforced, a great fear of contagion was overcome.
