The healings in Christian Science are wrought by prayer, and in no other way. The first chapter in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is devoted to the subject of prayer; and it makes very clear that prayer is efficacious, not only in the overcoming of sin, but also in the healing of disease. Christian Science gives a clear understanding of God, and of man made in the image and likeness of God. On this simple basis Christian Science teaches its followers the rules necessary for true prayer, whereby God's healing power is utilized. Christian Science does indeed teach the doctrine of universal divine Love, in accordance with the teaching of Christ Jesus. When a suffer is relieved of pain through Christian Science treatment, pain ceases to exit for him, and the power of Christian Science has been proved beyond any question.
