In a recent Sentinel there was an article "Go and Tell Thy Friends," which encourages me to give my testimony of an experience I had a few weeks ago, of the dear heavenly Father's wonderful protection of His children. Jesus said to the man whom he had healed of insanity, "Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee." So I wish to write to my friends, and tell them what great things the Lord hath done for me.
A few weeks ago, when visiting some Christian Science friends, while going down a flight of about fifteen steps, I missed the first one and fell to the bottom. My first feeling was as if I had gone all to pieces. Then I collected my thoughts. As two of my friends were lifting me up, I could say only one word, "Work." With their assistance I was able to walk into a room; and they made me comfortable in a cushioned chair. I lay back, closed my eyes, and started to declare the truth. About half an hour later, all pain ceased and I told my friends I felt all right. My right hand was still swollen, the thumb joint seemingly much enlarged. However, not one bone was broken or even dislocated. An hour later I walked to the gate and went home in an automobile. One of my friends went with me and assisted me to bed, as it was difficult to use my right hand. This was on Saturday evening. On Sunday I remained in bed to please my friends, although I felt quite able to get up. Next day I was up and going about as usual. Oh, how full my heart was of gratitude to God for His care of me! This healing should be especially convincing, as I have passed seventy-five years. I am anxious to give this testimony as it clearly shows how beautiful is God's protection of His children. If we would only trust Him more, what wonders it would do for us! I have always been very keen on this subject, clearly realizing my heavenly Father's everlasting arms around me. I have had more than one fall since I have known of Christian Science, but by at once declaring the truth I felt no bad after effects.
I cannot adequately express my gratitude to my heavenly Father for this wonderful experience of His ever-presence. I feel like praising Him all the time. I often wonder what we should do without Christian Science. And that brings me to express my earnest thanks to our loving Saviour, who bore so much for us; and to Mrs. Eddy for her patience and perseverance in making this great truth plain to us, and working so assiduously to organize this great work that it might be diffused throughout the whole world. I am also grateful to all the kind friends who have helped me in my passage from sense to Soul; also for class instruction, which enlightened me so wonderfully; and for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church. This last experience has helped me on my way wonderfully.—(Mrs.) Janet F. Dart, Guernsey, Channel Islands, Great Britain.
