In a recent issue of your paper, a pastor in commenting upon Christian Science is liberal enough in his view to give Christian Science credit for its healing power. He believes also in medical freedom—that one should have his choice of treatment, and that law should not regulate it. It is difficult to understand why the pastor holding this opinion should have no sympathy with Christian Science, and why he should believe it a veiled attempt to undermine Christianity.

Jesus, the great Exemplar, who established the Christian faith, made it very clear to all who followed him that healing the sick and preaching the gospel go hand in hand. He admonished the priests and Pharisees, saying that because of the builder's refusal of the corner stone, which had become the "head of the corner," the kingdom of God should be taken from them and given to those bringing forth the fruits thereof.

The pastor has admitted that Christian Science heals both physically and mentally. Is not this admission evidence that Christian Science fulfills the command of Jesus to his disciples, when he sent them to the lost sheep of the house of Israel with instructions to "heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils"?
