It is with a heart full of gratitude, which human words...
It is with a heart full of gratitude, which human words have little power to express, that I give my testimony, with the hope that some dear reader may be benefited. For four years I had suffered off and on from stomach trouble, which became so acute at times that I was in agony. I submitted to two operations, and consulted a score of doctors and specialists, but still obtained no relief. The disease rapidly developed into valvular heart trouble, a disease that I had been taught to dread from childhood. My suffering was greatly increased, and I was obliged many times in the night to sit up in bed in order to get my breath freely. I dieted for weeks, and literally starved myself, but without any avail whatsoever. All my earthly pleasures had come to an end, and I was certain that the grave was not far off.
I prayed night after night to Almighty God; but it seemed my prayers were not answered, until one day, through a dear friend of mine, I was urged to try Christian Science. I had arrived at the point where I was willing to try anything for even a little relief. This friend referred me to a Christian Science practitioner, and I decided to go at once to her. His last words as I left, which I found later to be true, were these: "You have nothing to lose and all to gain." The rest is easily told. The practitioner lovingly began treatment, and at the end of two months I was completely healed.
What an ever present help is God, divine Love, if we seek Him rightly! Before, I had laughed at and condemned Christian Science,—condemned something that I knew nothing about, something of which I had not a spark of understanding. Truly, I am being born anew; and my daily prayer is that I may live the beautiful teachings of Christian Science more and more each day, and follow a little closer in the footsteps of the beloved Master.
