Joy and gratitude are the words which most nearly express...
Joy and gratitude are the words which most nearly express what I feel toward Christian Science. I became interested in this religion through seeing the results of its healing power in another, after the usual material methods had failed. I then began the study for myself, and soon proved its practical use.
Some time ago I fell and dislocated my hip, which was entirely healed, the bones going into place without any other help than Christian Science treatment. I am very grateful for the loving help received from the practitioner and other dear friends at that time. In about five weeks I was able to walk as well as before. I was instantaneously healed of what is called lumbago, during a Christian Science lecture. I am also grateful for the peace and comfort Christian Science brings to us, and for the help it is to us through times of sorrow and trial. Jesus said, "My peace I give unto you." Surely there is no greater joy than to gain this promised peace. Mrs. Eddy says in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 210), "Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them." As we do this, we are helped and protected.
I am grateful to God for Mrs. Eddy, who was able to give to this age this wonderful Science, which heals both sickness and sin, gives peace and rest to mortals, and teaches them how to live so that they may in turn help others. The way in which divine Love has supplied all my needs is indeed wonderful. To any one feeling there is nothing but loneliness ahead, I would say, Press on, and leave the issue to God, ever present Love. To those Christian Scientists who have so lovingly and patiently helped me always, I am grateful; and my prayer is that I too may be helpful to others.—(Mrs.) Emily Jane Sprackett, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
