Christian Science came into our home twenty-one years ago through the healing of my mother, who was given up by the best physicians at that time to die of typhoid fever. The physicians had declared that my mother could live but a few hours, when a dear friend came to our home and suggested that we try Christian Science treatment. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and in a very short time my mother was able to get up and walk about the house; and in a week she was doing her housework.

I always loved Christian Science. I have seen it successfully demonstrated so often and so long that there is no reason why I should not love it. When I was ten years old, I was suffering from what I was informed later was consumption. One night, when I seemed to suffer very much, my mother gave me Christian Science treatment; and from that time to this I have not been troubled with the disease.

When I grew old enough to help earn a living, I spent about eleven years working among non-Scientists. Toward the end of this time I became much materialized, insomuch that I used tobacco in all its different forms. I gambled, used profanity, and did many other things in opposition to God's law. It was only through the earnest study of the Bible, together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, that all these erroneous habits left me.
