About seven years ago we began the study of Christian Science, and many and varied have been the blessings which have followed this step. When Christian Science found us we were neither very poor nor very sick; yet we had already learned the world's ruthelessness and mortal man's helplessness. Christian Science came as light in our darkness, helping to dispel the clouds of doubt, fear, limitation. It was God's hand outstretched for our help; and it has not failed to help throughout the years. True, we have had many lessons to learn. We had to learn the lessons of patience, forbearance, loving-kindness. We had to learn that human will-power is not Christian Science; that selfishness clogs the wheels of progress and hinders demonstration. Parents of a family of small children, we saw those children released from the bondage of our fear and false beliefs, the adamant of mortal mind melting before the light of spiritual understanding, with the resultant healing of both mind and body.

One healing stands out preeminently from the many we have had,—the healing of one of the children from deafness, which was threatening to become permanent. This condition would appear every winter, and the physician's treatment brought only temporary relief. The last time the trouble occurred we had just begun the study of Christian Science, and we vacillated quite a while between a doctor and a Christian Science practitioner; but finally the practitioner was called. The healing was complete in two days; and the trouble has never returned. Recently this child took a tone test in music, and received the highest mark in the school, so keen is her perception of sound.

Another demonstration of this period, for which it seems we cannot be grateful enough, was the removal of our family from small and crowded quarters into larger ones, and this, too, in the face of the fact that we had been declaring that no move could be undertaken without a change first occurring in the financial situation. Here God overruled man-made theories and opinions, and gave us what mortal mind had been unable to find, let alone give. Before this operation of divine Principle we were abashed. The home was far larger and more beautiful than we had dared ask, and the finger of man was not in it. Well might we trust all problems to God and not just a part. Although six years have passed since this demonstration took place, yet our gratitude is ever fresh, the view ever new. We know God's gift, and that our gratitude is best expressed in the good we may do with it, being mindful always that good, to be complete, must be shared.
