In the fall of 1908, I first heard of healing through Christian Science. At that time my sister was transferred to a new position; and during the lunch period a fellow-worker stated that her aunt had been healed of the need of glasses, while she was being treated for throat trouble by a Christian Science practitioner. After a while, inquiry was made as to whether the healings were permanent, and assurance given that they were.

Later, a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was borrowed. I read it to prove that I was not afraid to do so. In the meantime my sister went to a practitioner, and came home and told us many things that she had said to her. We searched the Scriptures to see if certain quotations were correctly stated, as we did not recognize them in their new application, although we had always been students of the Bible; and now we found new light. About three weeks afterward, while I was reading the one hundred and third psalm, the words, "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases," broke my bondage to the necessity of using glasses, and healed me of nervous prostration. During the three years previous I had lost much time from my work as a public school teacher, but since that time have not missed a day from personal illness.

By obeying Mrs. Eddy's instruction to meet disease in its incipient stage, I have proved Christian Science to be preventive as well as curative.
