True theology is the Science or exact knowledge of God. It treats of the character of God, of His attributes, and of His law and government. More than fifty years ago Mrs. Eddy, after years of diligent and painstaking study of the Bible, found in this Book of books the source of all she has ever taught or written on the subject of Christian Science. In her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 358), she has stated, "Christian Science, understood, coincides with the Scriptures, and sustains logically and demonstratively every point it presents." Christian Science teaches that God is the divine Principle of all true being, matter having no actual existence; that the spiritual universe manifests but one real Mind, God, of whom man is the idea or reflection. Christian Science is the Science of God, of Life. Referring to the healthful theology taught in Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy has stated in her text-book (Science and Health, p. 138): "Our Master said to every follower: 'Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature!... Heal the sick!... Love thy neighbor as thyself!' It was this theology of Jesus which healed the sick and the sinning. It is his theology in this book and the spiritual meaning of this theology, which heals the sick and causes the wicked to 'forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts.'" Christian Scientists are indeed grateful to the Founder of Christianity for his simple and practical teachings and examples.
