Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...
Jersey Shore Herald
Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 447): "To put down the claim of sin, you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin and so prove its unreality." By unreality Mrs. Eddy means that sin, mortality, and all evil, have no divine origin, are not creations of God, and therefore can have no absolutely real entity, differing in this respect from the eternal verities of God's creation. In the words, "Soul is sinless, not to be found in the body" (Science and Health, p. 288), the word "Soul" begins with a capital letter and means God. There is therefore no justification whatsoever in using that term in connection with the soul, or sense, which the Scripture says sins and dies.
Any seeming discrepancy or variance from the Scriptures vanishes the moment Mrs. Eddy's teachings are correctly presented; as it does also in the case of another quotation taken from page 475 of Science and Health: "Man is incapable of sin, sickness, and death." In this sentence Mrs. Eddy refers to spiritual man created in the image and likeness of God, and who cannot sin because he is "born of God," as stated by the Apostle John in I John. The fact is that Christian Science, as expounded by Mrs. Eddy, is based entirely on Scriptural teaching, and has the proof of the correctness of its teaching in the reformation of hundreds of thousands from sinful habits and the healing of all kinds of sickness and disease, the very proof which the Master demanded of his followers.
