Christian Science affirms that correct thinking does heal physical as well as moral and mental ailments, and proves the affirmation. Christian Science is governing by Principle, God, and only intelligent thoughts emanate from Him. Diseased thoughts are not right thoughts, because they are discordant. Just as the law of mathematics requires correct thinking to solve a problem, so right thinking is necessary to dissipate a belief of sickness. Christ Jesus demonstrated this by casting out devils (erroneous thoughts); and it is rather difficult to believe that any one would question the correctness of the Master's method of procedure.

In Christian Science prayer is not a matter of belief or faith; it is understanding, and this understanding applied does heal the sick. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 16), Mrs. Eddy says: "The highest prayer is not one of faith merely; it is demonstration. Such prayer heals sickness, and must destroy sin and death. It distinguishes between Truth that is sinless and the falsity of sinful sense." Christian Scientists do not claim to have any "power" of themselves, because they understand God to be the only real power. The realization of God's omnipotence blots out the seeming power of evil, and brings in a sense of harmony or healing.
