The Lectures

Blackburn, England (Society).—Introducing a Christian Science lecturer, Judge Samuel W. Greene, to his audience, Miss M. E. Harrison made the following remarks:—

The world has always been seeking a remedy for sin, sickness, sorrow, and strife. On page 142 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "Truth is God's remedy for error of every kind, and Truth destroys only what is untrue." Christian Science is bringing about the one thing necessary to the establishment of a permanent and universal peace. That one thing necessary is a universal understanding of God. Erroneous concepts of God in individuals necessarily set nations at variance; and Christian Science is gradually replacing these erroneous concepts with a world-wide perception of the one God, defined in the Bible as Love. It is the gracious mission of Christian Science to reveal to all who will receive Him a "God at hand" and not a "God afar off." Christian Science is bringing to the world this right understanding of God, which enables us to think the thoughts He gives us, to follow His unerring guidance, and to rest secure in His ever present care and love.
