Christian Science is Christianity—the teachings of Jesus...

Huntington Beach News

Christian Science is Christianity—the teachings of Jesus concerning God and man's relation to Him. It affirms that all power belongs to God, in whom we live and move and have our being. No student of Christian Science claims any power in or of himself, but recognizes God as the only power, and that only a realization of God's omnipotence can solve our problems.

Mrs. Eddy has never claimed to be the intercessor for man with God as our critic claims. An intercessor is defined by Webster as "one who interposes between parties at variance, with a view to reconcile them; one who pleads in behalf of another." Christian Science teaches that God is the same yesterday, to-day, and forever, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love, omnipotent and omnipresent, the source and origin of all that exists, and man is God's image and likeness. Christian Scientists are learning how to understand God as unchanging and infinite and always good, rather than pleading with Him for individual blessings as particular marks of His favor. Christian Science, moreover, is always willing to be judged according to Jesus' standard,—"By their fruits ye shall know them."
