Signs of the Times

[From the Woman and Home Magazine, New Zealand, Jan. 10, 1923]

A new earth postulates a new heaven: a recognition of the spiritual within and around ...; a corresponding sense of interdependence, with all the gladness therein implied; an upliftment of deed, word, and thought in adoration of the Supreme in whom we all "live, and move, and have our being." Heaven is no distant place; ... and by giving, serving, and loving, we can attain to the heavenly condition even here and now. With this conviction, we see that material gain can be but temporary; while spiritual growth is forever and ever. First of all, self-conquest: that is our first and hardest task; and then our reverent, joyous, and humble help in the advancement of the kingdom. Is there not bright and glorious work for every one of us?
