In 1918, one of my little daughters was ill with a violent attack of influenza. A doctor, whom we had consulted, diagnosed the case as double pneumonia, pleurisy, and inflammation of the inside part of both ears. From the human point of view a recovery seemed hardly possible. At the same time, my wife was also suffering with influenza. In these hours of trial we received, through God's infinite love, a visit from a friend. She remained at the bedside for some time; and when she left she encouraged us, and gave us Der Herold der Christian Science to read. In the evening I read it aloud, and we found courage in the reading. The little daughter slept fairly well during that night. How great was, therefore, our joy when on the following morning a great improvement was noticeable. When the doctor returned, he was surprised at the change, as he knew that the child did not take any medicine, and he had, as he told us, already given her up. The dear lady now visited us quite often and spoke about Christian Science, at the same time proving very helpful. After a short time our daughter was able to leave her bed, and was making rapid strides towards recovery. My wife, too, was able to get up very soon. Through this revelation of divine Love, both my wife and I were led to Christian Science, which we have now firmly adopted. Our little daughter, since her fourth year, has gone, and loves to go, regularly to the Christian Science Sunday School.

A year later, our youngest daughter, then one year old, was taken with a violent attack of bronchial catarrh, which the doctor feared would develop into pneumonia the following day. We thereupon asked the same dear lady for help in Christian Science, which was readily given. The child took no medicine, nor did we apply poultices; but we realized the presence of divine Love. When the doctor returned the next day, he was surprised at the vivacity which the little one expressed. After a thorough examination he found that she was perfectly well.

We are filled with gratitude to God, who has revealed to us His infinite love. We are also deeply thankful to our beloved Leader.—Arno Wegeleben, Berlin, Germany.
