As a proof of the protecting power of God's care, I wish to tell of an experience I had last summer. I was living with my family, a short distance from the water, in a wooden bungalow, one of a number built close together and running in long rows for many blocks. During the early part of the night, after most of the people had retired, fire broke out a short distance from our home. The fire made such rapid headway that we were glad, as we thought, to escape with our lives. We sought a place of safety, together with a number of people, and stood watching the fire, at the same time wondering why we should have to lose our home and all our belongings. Then the thought came to me: Why, you are looking at a destructive fire; you don't have to look at it. God never made a destructive fire. He does not even know anything about it.

What a wonderful, comforting thought,—God never made a destructive fire! With that, I turned completely around and looked in the opposite direction from the fire. Then the thought came to me from the article entitled "Rectifications," in the little book "Unity of Good" (p. 20) written by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy: "By a reverse process of argument evil must be dethroned:—
