[Written for the Sentinel]

Remember the Good

Remember the good of yester-years;
Whatever your life has been,
Forget the fears and forget the tears,
The pains and the sense of sin;
For only the good to-day is true,
And only the good was then;
To-morrow, too, has but good for you,
For good is Love's gift to men.

Remember the good that lies behind;
True mem'ry portrays no woe;
For now we find that there's no mortal mind,
The false to retain or know;
No shadowing past to clip thought's wings,
Nor silence the Spirit's call,
That sweetly brings us the truth of things,—
That God, good, is All-in-all.
