God's Protecting Care

The majority of thinking people now accept the fact that the understanding of Christian Science does heal the sick; but many of them do not yet admit that a knowledge of Christian Science enables mankind to prove that God, divine Love, does protect and care for every one of His children, and does "deliver us from evil." One of the explanations of deliverance given in the dictionary is "setting free." It is reasonable to presume that if mankind could prove, through the understanding of God's allness which Christian Science reveals, that evil is powerless, then men would cease to admit that evil has any influence whatsoever, and would thus gain freedom. Throughout Biblical history—in fact, throughout all history—mankind has been delivered from all kinds of evil; and this deliverance has always been accomplished through the operation of the law of God, good.

It is a demonstrable fact that God is the only real power; that He is all-powerful and ever present. Thus, there is no room for evil. And because God is the only Mind, evil has no intelligence. This line of reasoning can be followed in connection with every attribute of God, until evil is proved nonexistent. Thus mankind perceives that since God created everything to be like Himself,—absolutely good,—evil must be a mere negation.

Understanding God as divine Love sets mankind free from the false belief that it is possible for any seeming power to deprive God's children of their freedom to enjoy infinite harmony, and enables them to see that this absolute law of Love is always at hand to cast out fear, and to meet and master every inharmonious condition. Every time this law of Love is put into operation, not only does one protect his own consciousness, but the world is helped out of the belief in a lack of protection. Men are not at the mercy of the mesmerism of evil, but are able, through an understanding of Christian Science, to know that all are really the children of God, manifesting infinite Life, Truth, and Love, and are thereby protected by that very fact.
