Christian Science acknowledges God as infinite Mind
Bowes Park Weekly News
Christian Science acknowledges God as infinite Mind. This precludes the possibility of there being in reality any other mind. Paul speaks of a "carnal mind," which he terms "enmity against God." Now, God is Truth; therefore "enmity against God" must be error; therefore the carnal mind, which is also called mortal mind in Christian Science, is error. In mathematics two and two make four. This is an omnipresent fact. The belief that two and two make five is error, really existing nowhere except in ignorant belief. One who is ignorant may believe that two and two make five, but this will always be wrong, however. That the false beliefs of ignorance cause discord, there is abundant proof. For instance, when the cantilever bridge was being built over the St. Lawrence River, and the center span was being erected, through a miscalculation or mathematical mistake the supporting griders had not been made strong enough to hold the center span, which during its erection crashed into the river below, causing much destruction. The cause of this disaster was a mistaken belief arising from ignorance. All discord that appears in this material world proceeds from the same suppositional source. Christian Science is displacing this ignorance with the understanding of the omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence of God, in fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah, "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."
