If we accept the philosophy of Christianity to be the spiritual understanding of God, then we can use the term in connection with Christian Science, but not otherwise. This kind of philosophy dates back far beyond four thousand years. It is as ancient as the "Ancient of days;" and it declares the eternal nature of God and His universe.

Christian Science is the same as the religion of Christ Jesus, which cannot be separated from the mission of healing both sin and sickness. Mrs. Eddy, through trials innumerable, gradually realized the truth which Jesus taught and that it was applicable to this day and age. On page 191 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" she says: "As a material, theoretical life-basis is found to be a misapprehension of existence, the spiritual and divine Principle of man dawns upon human thought, and leads it to 'where the young child was,'—even to the birth of a new-old idea, to the spiritual sense of being and of what Life includes. Thus the whole earth will be transformed by Truth on its pinions of light, chasing away the darkness of error."
