God Supplies All Good

Christian Science reveals God as divine Love, and shows the way in which Love, the divine Principle of being, governs or cares for creation. Not only does Christian Science reveal the relationship existing between the creator and His spiritual creation; it also enables mankind to understand how divine Love supplies human needs. It is a noteworthy fact that God has been acknowledged in this way from early Biblical times, and long before Christ Jesus revealed to the world the fatherhood of God, which implied His paternal care for all His children. Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and the Hebrew prophets all had sufficient knowledge of God, and of the activity of spiritual law, to obtain divine protection, and to experience in their lives on many occasions the goodness of God. They could sing with the Psalmist: "Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing;" "The Lord is my shephered; I shall not want."

What the prophets of Israel saw with less clear vision, Christ Jesus perceived with undimmed spiritual understanding. Isaiah had said, "And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." Christ Jesus could say, "If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?" The Master, with his marvelous knowledge of the omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence of God, knew that man was cared for by God beyond what human imagination could possibly picture.

What is the reason that the truth which the Scriptures reveal is generally so little belived and trusted? There can be little doubt that it is because there exists among men profound ignorance of the nature of God and man. God and spiritual man have been discovered to the human race by spiritual seers. Their discoveries are now the priceless heritage of mankind. But so sordidly material is the mass of human thought that a vast number are almost entirely oblivious to spiritual truth, and, consequently, are ofttimes openly skeptical as to the goodness of God. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy, writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 135): "There is to-day danger of repeating the offence of the Jews by limiting the Holy One of Israel and asking: 'Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?' What cannot God do?" That is a question it were well everybody asked himself, and asked seriously. Probably many have asked it many times already without receiving an answer to their question. In which case they should turn to Christian Science, and investigate what it has to say about God, about His love, His care, and His power to protect. If they are earnest and sincere, it will be strange, indeed, if they fail to receive a divine revelation; for Christian Science explains in the simplest terms the deep things of God, and the spiritual relationship existing between God and man. Christian Science has created nothing new; it simply reveals what exists as reality. God has not varied throughout eternity; and He never will. And since God includes all reality, man has always existed as the idea of God. It is necessary to understand this intimate union in order to perceive how God supplies all good to man.
