Christian Science is the Science of Life

Christian Science is the Science of Life. It is such an interpretation of the Scriptures as is capable of effecting profound changes in the spiritual, mental, and physical conditions of those who accept and apply it. The relief from pain is but a by-product of mental and moral transformation. Christian Science does not hold that men have souls, but that God is the Soul of man, or, in other words, that man is the individual expression of infinite Mind or Soul. Accordingly, as men reflect the Mind or Soul which is God, in that degree do they possess dominion over their bodies. Neither does Christian Science attribute disease to spiritual defects. The spiritual, real man, being God's likeness, has no defects. Disease always springs from the so-called mortal or carnal mind; and as this is "put off" and replaced by the Mind of Christ, disease is destroyed. The Christian Scientist heals only when he understandingly affirms the allness of God and withstands the false beliefs of material sense and sin. Christian Science affirms that an understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him, if properly applied, will give that immunity from danger and accident promised specifically in the ninety-first psalm.
