I have had many benefits and cases of healing through the understanding and application of the truth, as found in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

From childhood I had suffered from attacks of valvular heart trouble, said by physicians to have been caused bu inflammatory rheumatism. When I reached the period of womanhood, and it became necessary to earn my livelihood, I was frequently handicapped by these attacks causing weakness and physical disability. Many years ago, when in the employ of a large business corporation, I suffered a nervous breakdown, and the leakage of the heart valves was serious, the condition being accompainied by stomach trouble. After being treated by a physician for several weeks, I went to a sanitarium; but after three months spent there, returned home with little improvement. I then had osteopathic treatment for a period of one year; but still I was not well.

At this time, my sister having experienced a beautiful healing through Christian Science, I decided to seek help in that direction for myself. In two weeks' treatment given by a practitioner, I received more benefit than through all the other methods. Fear was destroyed, and I learned to look to God as my help and strength. The wonderful promise in Isaiah, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness," was a constant source of help and strength. I began to study Science and Health, and was healed to the extent that I was able to resume my position, and for about fifteen years was strong and well. Then allowing myself to worry over my work, and believing it was too hard for me, I was again attacked with the heart trouble, and was forced to resign my position. This time, I depended on God and Christian Science alone for my healing, knowing that if I could realize in some degree the truth about the perfect man of God's creation and his relation to his Maker, I should receive the blessing. It took about two years for the heart to be healed; but I am happy to say the healing is complete and perfect. Since that time, seven years ago, I have been free from this trouble, in spite of days of strenuous labor such as I never before had been able to perform.
