Bexhill Chronicle

Christian Science is built on foundations which none can overthrow or gainsay, the immortal words and works of the great Master, Christ Jesus, being the rock on which Christian Science is built. Its adherents endeavor to reach out for and understand the ever present, ever operative truth he taught and practiced. They strive to touch the hem of the seamless garment of the Christ, accepting the promises of Christ Jesus and endeavoring to understand his teachings. The significant statement in John, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," they have found to be applicable to every human problem, healing disease, sin, and woe. The mission of Christian Science is to uplift human consciousness through prayer, to behold man's eternal heritage of freedom as God's child, and to discern the imperative necessity of gaining through purity and consecration the Mind which was in Christ Jesus, to which alone "all things are possible."

Mrs. Eddy found that the truth Christ Jesus taught and demonstrated was established for all time, and that power is given, to-day as yesterday, to "them that believe," to heal the sick as well as the sinning, thus fulfilling his commands and the divine mission of Christianity. In the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes on page 495: "God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God. Truth casts out error now as surely as it did nineteen centuries ago. All of Truth is not understood; hence its healing power is not fully demonstrated."
