Since being led to the study of Christian Science through the healing of a dear friend about three and one half years ago, I have been an earnest student, and have proved countless times that the healing truth as taught by Jesus is again in our midst. So thick seemed the clouds of error, especially a sense of great fear, that I could not get any understanding for some time. One night I awoke suddenly to find my little girl, almost a year and a half old, very ill. For a few minutes I was greatly alarmed; then suddenly the thought came to me: Why not put Christian Science to the test? Now is the time to prove it. I shall never forget the illumination of joy and peace that came to me, making me oblivious of everything around me. I had opened that priceless treasure, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, at page 2, and the words that met my gaze were these: "God is Love. Can we ask Him to be more? God is intelligence. Can we inform the infinite Mind of anything He does not already comprehend? Do we expect to change perfection? Shall we plead for more at the open fount, which is pouring forth more than we accept? The unspoken desire does bring us nearer the source of all existence and blessedness." I read the paragraph over several times, realizing more clearly each time what freedom that Love gave us; and presently, when I again thought of the child, I found her asleep. She was healed.

From that time, with the loving help of a dear practitioner, I gained in understanding; and many and wonderful were the demonstrations made, proving the ever-presence of God and how He rewards our feeble efforts often far beyond our expectations. Often in girlhood when sickness and sorrow visited our home, I had wondered what John's knowledge of God was when he could say so fervently, "God is love." I had been brought up by very devout parents in the belief that God sent sickness to discipline us, but it seemed to me a strange way of expressing love. Now that I have proved the meaning of these words by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 206), "Instead of God sending sickness and death, He destroys them, and brings to light immortality," and, "God does not cause man to sin, to be sick, or to die," I also can humbly and gratefully say that God is Love.

Hearing has been restored through the knowledge of Truth; also broken arches have been healed. An attack of measles was destroyed in one night. Enlarged tonsils have been completely overcome. Indeed, Christian Science meets my every need. While I am truly grateful for the healings, the spiritual understanding I am gaining is still more precious, in that it lifts me above all sense of discord into the realization of the all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-loving presence of God. Words fail to express my gratitude to God for bringing me to Christian Science, and to our dear Leader for her loving, unselfish life, that has resulted in so much good. I am also deeply indebted to the practitioners who have given me such loving help. My daily desire is to reflect the good I have received and am receiving each day in great measure.
