I heard about Christian Science four years ago

I heard about Christian Science four years ago. A lady came to Copenhagen, from the United States, and told me about the Christian Science work over there. Since at that time I was very much distressed, mentally and physically, I thought it might be of some help to me. The lady, at my request for some Christian Science literature, gave me a pamphlet in English; and I started to study. I knew very little English, and the reading was very difficult for me. I had to look up almost every second word in my dictionary; and every little page took me about an hour and a half to translate. But I kept on, and went through it; and I felt very much interested in the subject. I asked for some more literature; and the lady told me to go to see a Christian Science practitioner, which I did; and the practitioner gave me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in English, not telling me that the book was translated into French and German, which two languages I was very well acquainted with. I started again; but Science and Health seemed still more difficult than the above-mentioned lecture. But I continued, more interested every day; and in a couple of months I was able to read our textbook very easily. I never in my life felt so happy and free as I have since that time. I had found that for which I had been searching all my life.

Space forbids me to mention all the blessings I have had through Christian Science. Through my study of Mrs. Eddy's writings I have been healed from ailments of years' standing, which different physicians had tried in vain to cure. It was always told me that the healing would be almost impossible by medical means, as my diseases were due to so-called hereditary conditions. Through my study I was healed of gallstones. I have also received many mental healings, among which I am especially thankful for having been freed from the feeling of human hatred.

I hope these experiences may be of help to some of the many that believe it hopeless to start the study of Christian Science without being a perfect English scholar. It is impossible for me to find words to express my gratitude to God, and to Christ Jesus, whose life and work and word made it possible for Mary Baker Eddy to give this wonderful revelation to the world.
