Among the Churches

Current Notes

Oakland, Calif. (First Church) (Telegram sent to The Christian Science Board of Directors, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts).—California, by a majority of over thirty-one thousand votes, has adopted the Wright Enforcement Act. By so doing she has taken her stand for upholding our national Constitution and the laws of our land. The Christian Science Monitor played a large part in bringing out this splendid victory. Your efforts to expose the evil and uphold the good are worthy of highest praise. The result attests the power of Truth to overcome error in our civic life as well as in personal experience. For your untiring work in behalf of the people of California we, the members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Oakland, express to your our sincere thanks and appreciation, and pledge to you anew our loyal support and cooperation. Our gratitude goes out in increasing measure to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving to the world this powerful medium for the expression of good, and to you who are so earnestly carrying on the work she outlined "to injure no man, but to bless all mankind" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 353).
