It was several years ago that I first became interested in Christian Science. A lady moved next door to our home, who radiated much love and happiness. I soon found that it was through the demonstration of Christian Science that this neighbor reflected the qualities I so much desired to have myself. I began to read the copies of the Christian Science Sentinel which she kindly lent to me; but, although it seemed easy for her to demonstrate the truth, I was afraid to take up the study, not wishing to leave my own church at that time.

Some time passed, and at last I took my stand for Christian Science, One day, as I was seated in a carriage, ready for a ride, the horse became suddenly frightened, and ran away. I had not proceeded far when I knew my only protection from harm must come from God. Declaring His allness, I gained in a moment's time a sense of peace. The carriage was overturned; and I was thrown upon the hard ground, just missing by a few inches being hurled against a telephone pole. My body was bruised in such a manner that those who came to help me thought I would be confined to a bed for some weeks. I had my husband call up a friend for Christian Science help, which was lovingly given; and in a very few days I was again walking down the street. From that time on I continued in the study of Truth, as taught by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. My gratitude knew no bounds. My husband took up the study also; and a young son was placed in the Sunday school of the Christian Science church.

We have had many problems to work out, and divine Principle has never failed us at any time. I have been so grateful for a knowledge of divine Love, which guides and protects us. When my son went to France as an aviator in the American Air Service, I knew his safety lay in relying upon infinite wisdom to guide him through all. He asked me to work for him in Science. There were many testing times throughout those long months; and ofttimes I would feel an urgent need of working for his protection "in the night watches." Many times, Paul's words to the Rom ans, "Nor height, nor depth ... shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord," gave me perfect assurance of God's love and care. He had what are termed narrow escapes, even from the "last enemy." My faith never faltered. He came home well and happy, without a single blemish. For that wonderful protection I have always been profoundly grateful; and for the golden opportunity of proving God's allness in what the world calls so great a problem in the most hazardous service of the world's war. His gratitude has often been publicly expressed.
