About eight years ago I attended a Wednesday evening...
About eight years ago I attended a Wednesday evening meeting of the Christian Science church, so burdened with earth-clouds that I had to be helped up the steps. I had not known what it was to be well or happy for years. As I looked about and saw the joyous, bright faces all around me, I wondered if there was any hope for me. After that meeting I went home with a new hope springing up within me,—a hope that through Christian Science I, too, could "sing unto the Lord a new song." Since that Wednesday night I have been an earnest student of Christian Science; and for two years have risen at half past four in the morning that I might study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the other writings of our beloved Leader, without its interfering with my home duties.
Although I have had many problems to meet, many obstacles to overcome, Christian Science has never failed me when earnestly and honestly applied. It has indeed "put a new song in my mouth." It has given me "the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness," changing my life from sickness to health and from sorrow to joy,—the greatest joy being the joy of service.
I am so grateful to God, and to our Leader, and to the one who inspired me to "sing unto the Lord a new song." My greatest desire is to live this truth, and to help others to find this new song of hope and joy in Christian Science.
