The divinity of the Christ is a most necessary and fundamental teaching of our religion. The second religious tenet of the Christian Science church, as given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 497), is as follows: "We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God's image and likeness." John Greenleaf Whittier in his poem "The Healer," referring to the healing work of Christ Jesus, wrote,

That healing gift He lends to them
Who use it in His name;
The power that filled His garment's hem
Is evermore the same.
