Christian Science is a religion that heals, that meets every human need through the law of Love. To soften what is bitter, feed what is starved, to build up the bruised, cheer the sad, and cleanse what is soiled in humanity's heavy heart—that is its mission. I am grateful to be able to testify to healing and the blessings received from the study of the truth as taught in Christian Science. While my healing at the early age of sixteen was the means of making me a student, the teaching of service to mankind, which I have received, has been a much greater blessing.
At the time of my healing I was suffering from heart trouble and dropsy, for which I had been receiving the best medical attention, but without results. In the community in which I lived, Christian Science was not viewed as intelligently then as now; and I knew very little about it. But the desire to be healed, and to go on with my school duties without interruption, led me to investigate it. I sought a Christian Science practitioner who lived not far away. Words can never tell the joy and inspiration of that first visit with a woman whose life is as beautiful a testimonial to the truth as any it has been my privilege to know.
Harmony in man is real and beautiful, I learned at that first, never-to-be-forgotten visit. In about three days' time I was completely healed; and I have never had any return of the affliction. This was for me the beginning of learning to live; for to know God is to live; to live is to love; to love is to heal. Since my healing it has been my particular blessing to receive class instruction in Christian Science, to teach in the Sunday school, and to witness many wonderful healings through the power of Truth.
