I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the lifework...
I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the lifework of our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in bringing to this age the healing and saving power of Christian Science. Quite recently I had a beautiful proof of the power of God to heal.
As I started down the stone steps of my home to enter a motor car, in some manner I pitched forward and fell, striking my head against the sharp corner of the lower step, and receiving a deep scalp wound. With the help of one who was with me I was able to rise, instantly and continually declaring that God's man never fell; that there are no accidents in Truth, as Mrs. Eddy states in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where she says (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." I was assisted into the house, and clung to these truths steadfastly, in the face of what seemed to mortal sense a serious injury. In a very short time the flow of blood was stanched, and the pain vanished as my son read to me from the writings of our Leader, and audibly voiced the truth with me. It seemed wise after a time to call a surgeon; and when he came he took a few stitches to close up the wound. After bandaging it, he said he would look at it again in three days. When he did so, it was healed. During all this time I was about my work as usual, and did everything I was accustomed to do, except that I went out less. For all the help so lovingly given in this experience I am very grateful.
I am most grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us the Christian Science periodicals and other publications. They are all especially helpful just at this time, and with our Manual and the Lesson-Sermons meet all our needs as they arise.
