Thirty years ago Dr. Dale said the next revival would be an ethical revival. It has come without observation. It is shown in the new attitude to social questions. Things are done to-day without discussion that would have provoked bitter controversy fifteen or twenty years ago. Men are recognizing that Christianity does stand in some relation, not only to the life of the individual, but to all spheres of collective life.

It is recognized that war violates the highest principles of morality, that there is something wrong in the present industrial strife and competition, and men want to fashion society more in conformity with the idea of brotherhood.
