Words cannot express the great joy that has come into...

Words cannot express the great joy that has come into my life since studying Christian Science and gaining a larger understanding of God. After suffering daily for more than twenty-five years and being placed upon the invalid list by all who knew me, and traveling hither and yon in search of the proper climate, I found myself in the home of a Christian Scientist in southern California. At first I had great fear and doubt, then a great curiosity to know about Christian Science. Seeing the great love and harmony toward all in this home, I ventured to attend the Wednesday evening meetings. I heard testimonies from all parts of the world—that made me think. I also found I did not understand the reading from the platform. It seemed like a new language—one I was not familiar with. I had never studied the Bible, and the reading from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy confirmed my opinion that it was a new language.

Being impressed by the testimonies, I decided in some way to investigate Christian Science. The statements made at the testimony meetings seemed all so vague and strange to me—so I thought it best to take one statement at a time and study it out at the reading room. I first took the statement used so many times at the Wednesday evening meetings, "I declared the truth," and I studied and read much about "truth," then on to other statements such as "realizing God was All-in-all"—and so on until at the end of three months I was completely healed, just by studying the statements that at first seemed to have no meaning. I came home to my husband a perfectly well woman, and the joy that came into our home is beyond words. This was ten years ago and I have been better, stronger, and happier than ever before.

The healing to me is very insignificant compared with the spiritual uplift and the finding out there is a God—a God who is our all, who cares for us at all times, and if we only trust Him we need have no fear. I have had many, many proofs of His loving care and guidance and when the road seemed dark and dreary and I turned to God for help He never failed me.
